Compendium on Research on Homelessness Now Available

Toward Understanding Homelessness: The 2007 National Symposium on Homelessness Research, a new compendium of the last 10 years of research on homelessness, is now available. The compendium contains papers presented and discussed at the Homelessness Research Symposium, which occurred in March 2007 in Washington, DC.

Debra J. Rog, PhD, Vice President of the Rockville Institute, attended and presented on homeless families and children with co-author John Buckner, PhD. Dr. Rog's presentation at the February 2008 Contemporary Social Issues Seminar Series, Homelessness Among Our Nation's Families, was based in part on this paper. (Download a .pdf of the paper)

A complete version of Toward Understanding Homelessness, as well as Dr. Rog's and Dr. Buckner's paper, other individual papers, the symposium agenda, presenter biographies, and participant list are also available at that site.

The symposium invited researchers, policy experts, practitioners, and consumers to review the decade of research that has accrued since the Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Health and Human Services (HHS) jointly published Practical Lessons: The 1998 National Symposium on Homelessness Research.
